LCPR Podcast: Interrogation v. Torture

On Tuesday, December 9th, 2014 Senator Diane Feinstein, Chairman of the Senate intelligence committee made public a report of the CIA’s enhanced interrogation technique’s or what some are calling “torture”. In this London Center Podcast listen as our experts discuss this report and the very questions it raises.

Moderator: Capt. Pete O’Brien (USN-Ret) – Mr. O’Brien’s Navy career included ten years at sea, more than a dozen years stationed overseas and multiple deployments in actions across the operational spectrum, providing the opportunity to study, practice and execute the widest possible of leadership and planning skills. He has participated in planning and execution of military operations from the tactical to the strategic level in the Middle East, North Africa and East Asia.

Jed Babbin is a former Air Force officer who served as a deputy undersecretary of defense in the George H. W. Bush administration. He is the best-selling author of, “The BDS War Against Israel,” “In the Words of Our Enemies,” (Regnery 2007).

GYSGT Jessie Jane Duff (USMC-Ret) served 20 years on active duty. Along with multiple overseas deployments and combat related exercises, she provided logistical and training support to combat arms and wing units throughout her career, including Desert Storm and the Iraq/Afghanistan wars. In a collateral duty, Jessie served on the Executive Staff to the Commander of Marine Forces Pacific, the largest operational command in the Marine Corps prior to her retirement. She completed her career as an Operations Chief.

Lt Col Tony Shaffer (retired) has commanded and directed several key operational intelligence organizations. These include Special Mission Task Force STRATUS IVY, that conducted direct support to DoD compartmented activities (OSD, SOCOM, JSOC, Army) which was focused on offensive information operations. In addition, he was in charge of Field Operating Base (FOB) Alpha, a joint DIA/CIA unit conducting classified collection and special operations support regarding terrorists just after the 9/11 attacks.
